Mythic Physique: Book Reviews

I first learned of Ori Hofmekler through his magazine Muscle & Mind Power. I had the honor of interviewing him in the second season of my fringe TV show. Now I am toying with testing out his controversial nutritional theories... on myself.

Like many of you, I feel a strong kinship with ancient warrior cultures, especially the mythic, heroic and barbaric ones.

Ori studied these cultures, especially those which were successful, and examined the eating habits of conquerors. He found that the way of the predator was healthier than the habits of the herd, the wisdom of the wild of greater value than the abominations thrust upon the domesticated.

How can I not love his dietary theories? I have already experienced success in weight-loss and feelings of greater well being through the practice of paleolithic eating practices. Why not take my Quest for Might to the next level through cycled eating, as did my Lion totem and my heroic Greek ancestors?

So I followed Ori's program. A few weeks later, despite the flu, my muscles are fuller and my energy higher. I also feel much more alert. This is truly a dynamite combination. And it is line with how our ancestors actually lived.

If we truly are what we eat, why not eat like the heroes of old?
